Law Research Institute Regulations

Article 1 (Purpose) The purpose of the following regulations is to organize and operate the Jeonbuk National University Law Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") to contribute to the development of legal culture by researching legal theory and practice. (Sep. 21, 2007)
Article 2 (Name) (Deleted Sep. 21, 2007)
Article 3 (Business) The Institute conducts the matters in each of the following items.
  • 1. Research on practice, legal information, and legal ethics (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • 2. Research on the spread of legal culture including legal education and legal support (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • 3. Other research for accomplishing the purpose of the Institute
Article 4 (Organization and Function)
  • ① The Institute may have in place the Legal Theory Division, Legal Practice Division, Legal Information Division, Legal Ethics Division, Legal Education Center, Legal Support Center, and Administrative Office. (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ② The Legal Theory Division researches domestic and international legal theory. (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ③ The Legal Practice Division researches the collection, investigation, analysis, and results of legal precedents. (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ④ The Legal Information Division researches the collection, distribution, and publication of information on domestic and international legal literature. (Sep. 21, 2007)

  • ⑥ The Legal Ethics Division researches basic issues of legal ethics related to values, principles, rules, etc., that must be observed while performing duties as a legal professional. (Paragraph created Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ⑦ The Legal Education Center establishes the rule of law, raises awareness of law-abiding, and operates a law-abiding school for youth. (Paragraph created Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ⑧ The Legal Support Center researches legal support services such as the operational support of the Legal Clinic and legal consultation structure and coordination. (Paragraph created Sep. 21, 2007) Appendix 290
  • ⑨ The Administrative Office performs general affairs, accounting, and other services in support of the administration of the Institute. (Paragraph added Sep. 21, 2007)
Article 5 (Executives) The Institute may have in place the following executives.
  • 1. One (1) Institute Director
  • 2. Six (6) Division Director(s) and Center Director(s)
  • 3. One (1) Secretary
Article 6 (Institute Director)
  • ① The Institute Director shall be appointed by the President from among the faculty members of the school who are associate professors or higher, the term of office shall be two (2) years, and he/she may be reappointed.
  • ② The Institute Director, under the order of the President, shall control the work of the Institute and supervise its member staff.
Article 7 (Division Director)
  • ① The Division Directors and Center Directors shall be appointed by the Institute Director with the approval of the President from among the researchers who are assistant professors or higher, the term of office shall be two (2) years, and he/she may be reappointed. (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ② The Division Directors and Center Directors divide their duties and supervise their employees. (Sep. 21, 2007)
Article 8 (Secretary) The Secretary shall be appointed by the Institute Director from among the researchers and report to the President. The term of office shall be two (2) years, and he/she may be reappointed.
Article 9 (Researcher and Visiting Researcher)
  • ① The Institute shall have in place researchers and may have visiting researchers in place if necessary. (Sep.21, 2007)
  • ② Researchers shall be appointed by the Institute Director with the approval of the President from among the faculty members who are full-time lecturers or higher at the University, the term of office shall be two (2) years, and he/she may be reappointed.
  • ③ Visiting researchers shall be appointed by the Institute Director with the approval of the President from among experts in the fields related to duties at other universities or research institutes, and the term of office shall be two (2) years. However, in the case of participating in a specific research project, its period of research may be the term of office.
  • ④ Researchers and visiting researchers shall investigate and research matters within their jurisdiction.
Article 10 (Assistant Researcher)
  • ① The Institute may have in place assistant researchers to assist other researchers. (Sep. 21, 2007)
  • ② Assistant researchers shall be appointed by the Institute Director from among those with a bachelor's degree or higher, and the term of office shall be two (2) years. However, in the case of participating in a specific research project, its period of research may be the term of office.
Article 11 (Staff) The Institute may have in the administrative office staff members to handle general affairs and accounting tasks of the Institute. (Sep. 21, 2007)
Article 12 (Extension Courses)
  • ① The Institute may offer extension courses if necessary.
  • ② Matters concerning extension courses in Paragraph 1 shall be implemented with the approval of the President.
Article 13 (Executive Committee) An Executive Committee (hereinafter referred to as the “Committee”) shall be established within the Institute to review major issues.
Article 14 (Composition of the Committee)
  • ① The Committee shall be composed of up to seven (7) members including the Chair, and the Institute Director shall be the Chair.
  • ② The Committee members shall be appointed by the Institute Director with the approval of the President from among the faculty members of the University, the term of office shall be two (2) years, and he/she may be reappointed.
Article 15 (Chair of the Committee) The Committee Chair organizes the affairs of the Committee, convenes meetings, and presides over them.
Article 16 (Function of the Committee) The Committee reviews the following matters.
  • 1. Matters concerning the basic plan for operating the Institute
  • 2. Matters concerning the selection of research projects and composition of researchers
  • 3. Matters concerning the enactment and revision of the regulations of the Institute
  • 4. Matters concerning the budget and settlement of accounts of the Institute
  • 5. Other matters deemed necessary by the Institute Director
Article 17 (Meetings of the Committee) Committee meetings shall be opened by the attendance of a majority of the Committee members, and resolutions shall be made with the approval of a majority of the members present.
Article 18 (Finance) The finances of the Institute shall be covered by grants, service revenues, and other revenues.
Article 19 (Fiscal Year) The fiscal year of the Institute is the same as the fiscal year of the government.
